Catholic Tastes

So the subject of religion is a touchy one for many people. This I can understand since it’s faith based and not grounded in any kind of reality. I had the pleasure of reading a book which I believe was published in the 50′s called “Man and his Gods”. Now this book made complete sense to me. It talked about western religion only, but It made me realize that the same stories weather Egyptian, Greek, roman or Catholic were all the same damn story just using different names. I recommend everyone should read it. I’m sure Amazon has it.
My own personal experience began with Catholic school and hateful nuns. If anything is going to scare you it will most likely be a nun (worst then clowns…at least clowns take off their makeup once in awhile). It was my Grandfathers brilliant idea to have me become an alter boy. At least by that time, we had the tasteful white robes and not those garish red ones with the white lace, ugh!! I hated attending mass. I basically would fall asleep during it, barely conscious of what was going on around me. And the priest didn’t even have the decency to fondly me…just kidding..well sort of..lol.
Listen, I really don’t care what anyone believes. I feel if it gets you through the day, good for you. Life is hard enough and some people need drugs others religion some a combination of the two. What I have a problem with and it seems this is where the problems persist. Why do people need to push their religion in your face. If I’m shopping for a religion, I’ll contact you. Please do not come to my door like a used vacuum sales person hawking god…It’s so disrespectful to me and your god. I don’t show up at your door telling you you need to be gay or wear white after labor day. I don’t care if you worship the tree outside my yard just don’t involve me in it. Is it that too much to ask?
