A new friend of mine and I were talking a few days ago. He happens to be younger then me by a good 12 years. We started talking about what I do to keep my skin in tip top shape. So I’m going to share with you what I told him.
I started taking care of my skin at an early age. I was prone to acne. I tend to have oily skin ..I am Italian after all. I cursed my skin when I was a kid, but what was a curse then turned out to be a blessing now. It definitely has kept my skin younger. Having had problem skin as a teenager I learned how to take care of it. One thing that is so important is exfoliating and moisturizing. The moisturizer does not have to be very expensive in fact mine runs about $21.00 a bottle which lasts for a good two months if not longer. I happen to buy Aubrey which is all natural. Most skin creams (and this goes for the very expensive ones) break down your skin in order for the liquid to reach below the surface. This can destroy the skin over time having the reverse effect that you want. There are many exfoliating scrubs on the market. I have used a variety of them…now however, I use a small brush. The bristles shouldn’t be to hard you don’t want to scrape all seven layers off…just the dead cells.
Mud masking ….(so you think your Joan Crawford). Applying a mud mask definitely is a sure fire way to remove may impurities in the skin with out having to take a trip to the dermatologist office. There are many on the market. I like to use a true mud rather then a peel or some that never dry. Mine needs to harden and really suck out the oils in my skin. If you have fair skin then go with something a bit more mild. Listen you can still be butch, dominate, top man and still do all of this…just don’t tweet it.
Other helpful suggestions:
Don’t smoke, no drugs no alcohol, plenty of rest, lots of water, eat right and no stress …YEAH RIGHT!! Come on lets be realistic ….just try to do the best you can. After all we need to enjoy our lives too!!
